Duct Tape Fashion
Did you know that
you can create clothing out of duct tape? Of
course you can!
With a little imagination,
you can make all sorts of clothing out of duct
tape. Of course, your clothing will be warm to
wear and fully waterproof!
For most of these ‘fashions’ you will need to
make duct tape fabric. To make duct tape fabric:
Lay out one strip of duct tape sticky side up.
Attach another strip of duct tape sticky side up
to the edge of the one already laid out,
attaching the long sides together, so you have
two strips side by side. Continue until you have
enough pieces to have a sheet large enough for a
piece of your pattern. Lay pieces of duct tape
sticky side down on the sticky ‘sheet’ of duct
tape you have created until you have a full,
non-sticky sheet of duct tape fabric.
Duct tape vest. Draw out a pattern for a vest,
or use a pre-made vest pattern. Cut out the
pattern on duct tape fabric. Attach the pieces
together using duct tape.
Duct tape dress. Similarly to the vest, create
or use a dress pattern—simplicity is the key to
making a great duct tape dress. Using sheets of
duct tape fabric, cut the pieces out. Attach the
pieces together using duct tape. You could sew
them together as well for extra durability—but
duct tape will do the trick!
Duct tape hat—you can make a duct tape hat!
Measure your head’s circumference and then let
your imagination go wild! You can make a
baseball cap, a fedora—any type of hat you
desire!
Duct tape jewelry—bracelets, hair bands, watch
straps and all it takes is some imagination and
a little trial and error.
Duct tape flip flops—using a couple of sheets of
duct tape fabric, outline each of your feet and
allow for a half an inch all the way around. Cut
out your shape. Mark the place in between your
big and second toes. Punch a hole through the
shoe. Make a strip of duct tape and measure to
go around your foot like flip flops. Punch holes
in the side where the duct tape meets. Push duct
tape straps through the holes and tape
underneath.
