Tips on Using Duct Tape
The following article
offers some tips on using duct tape to make your
repairs and projects go smoother.
Wherever you go, you’ll find fans of duct tape.
Many people use it for just about any type of
household repair, as well as many other things.
However, not everyone knows just how handy duct
tape is. The following are some tips on using
duct tape to make your repairs and projects go
smoother.
First of all, when using duct tape, many simply
rip and tear the piece off. To make this easier,
find yourself a pair of scissors that are coated
in Teflon. This will allow you to cut the piece
of duct tape off quicker and evenly and the
adhesive from the duct tape will not build up on
the blades of the scissors as it would a regular
pair of scissors.
If you use duct tape to patch up your clothing,
such as a pair of jeans, you’ll want to make
sure you secure the duct tape by ironing it on.
You’ll want to put your iron on a low setting
and place aluminum foil over the tape. This will
prevent it from melting. However, if you are
outdoors and discover a clothing repair needed,
you can use a very light tough with a lighter to
“iron-on” the duct tape.
When you are working on a project using duct
tape, make sure you use the smoothest duct tape
you can find. This will make all of your
projects look more professional. If you are
going to decorate your duct tape project with
either permanent markers or paint pens, test
them out first on the duct tape. Some markers
and paint pens work better on duct tape than
others.
If you are traveling light but still want to
carry your duct tape with you, re-roll the duct
tape on a pencil before you leave. The duct
tape, re-rolled on a pencil will take up a lot
less room than the roll.
