A Myriad And One Uses For Duct Tape

Based on long, hard earned experience, I think of duct tape as the Swiss army knife for household jobs of all types, from simple ones like sealing an envelope that will not close to patching that drafty hole in the wall.

I find it so useful I always have at least two rolls lying around the house just in case of some unforeseen emergency.

For example, a couple of weeks ago, my home phone became loose and was dangling off the wall. I could not fix it, but since I get important calls twenty-four seven I needed it repaired immediately, although my local service provider could not send a repairman in less than a week. What to do? I whipped out a roll of duct tape and pasted the receiver and hand set module onto the wall until the fix was made and the receiver lay securely on the wall once more.

I have also suffered the inconvenience of a broken window in the dead of winter, making the apartment freezing inhospitable. Duct tape to the rescue. I stretched several layers vertically and horizontally (just to be sure) and survived until I got a repairman to replace the broken pane.

Packages hard to seal? No problem! Duct tape comes in handy here, too. I just wrap the duct tape roll around the package until I feel it is safely wrapped, and also secure whatever loose ends I feel need tying down.

I have even used duct tape to make emergency repairs to a pair of pants with a large, embarrassing hole in what I felt was clearly the wrong place, to protect my vital interests until I got home and could change clothes.

If you use your imagination I am sure that you have many other very helpful and creative uses for duct tape. Remember this handy, dandy household jack of all trades comes in a wide range of colors including pretty much transparent and can be used to replace packing tape, masking tape, Scotch Tape and sealing tape, which in essence are all related to that old reliable: good, old handy duct tape.
